Daily Current: Harry being Harry, Hillary & Chris G., Sharron Angle… must be primary eve

Harry. Sigh. The New York Times starts a piece on women running for governor with a vignette about Harry Reid being Harry Reid, i.e., telling Chris G. not to run because Steve Sisolak is a good little garden-variety centrist Democrat circa 1992 so the all-powerful beloved resort industry will like him but not her. Yes, that’s paraphrasing. But only a little.

Better late than never. The primary is tomorrow. (Don’t forget to find a voting center.) And Chris G. started running a robocall endorsement from Hillary Clinton yesterday (Sebelius/Indy). Clinton says Chris G. is progressive and a teacher too, so there, or words to that effect. Yes, you’re right, it would have been more fun if Hillary would have made fun of Sisolak’s magic football field.

Robots eat mining jobs. Barrick Gold, the biggest gold producer in Nevada and believed to be the largest gold mining corporation in this quadrant of the galaxy, has started testing “autonomous hauling trucks,” aka robots with wheels, at one of its Nevada operations. Prediction! Wheeled robots will ultimately displace workers, which will save Barrick money, but Barrick will still report that jeepers robot expenses sure are high and tell the state to reduce Barrick’s mining tax burden accordingly, and the state will say oh yes absolutely.

Tesla eats state revenue. The state would have $60 million more money than anticipated, except that Tesla has claimed $73.8 million in tax credits. And Tesla comes first. Nevada Appeal
