“Trump ends separations” declares the headline atop the Las Vegas newspaper this morning. Of course, families are still separated. And Trump & Co. has no clear plan for bringing them back together.

Awkward weekend ahead. Trump is tweeting up a storm about how the last thing we need is more judges to fairly and rightfully process migrant cases because what we really need is a big strong wall etc. etc. etc. Meantime, Dean Heller, whose recent history consists mostly of trying to make Trump like him, introduced legislation to hire more judges. Prediction! When they meet for Heller’s fundraiser this weekend, Trump will humiliate and belittle Heller. Heller, for his part, will giggle like a schoolboy. Of course the only thing this prediction is based on is past performance.
Nevada is progressive. No, for reals. This morning in the Current we learn that, yes, Nevada is among states with the most progressive policies with respect to trans and gender non-conforming people. But it could be better, Michael Lyle reports.

In fact, the state plans to kill convicted killer Scott Raymond Dozier the week of July 9. “Whatever, it’s 2018.” That, the R-J reports, is what a gay man enjoying Las Vegas with his family said before a pack of numbskulls attacked him, for being gay, evidently. Somehow, in 2018, people seem much less inhibited about attacking someone because they’re gay. One wonders, what could it possibly be, what shift in public discourse or cultural and political norms is emboldening such hateful numbskullery, in 2018? As Yul Brynner said to Deborah Kerr, “Is a puzzlement.” In any case, as one of the world’s greatest tourist destinations, Las Vegas has an obligation to the rest of the world to lead by example and charge these people with hate crimes, no?
Only in Nevada … er … what? Ostend, Belgium is converting an abandoned hangar into a “mega brothel,” in the hope of offering a more secure working environment that will protect sex workers from exploitation. On a slightly related note, Nevada’s prostitution laws and industry are quaint at best, and Dennis Hof is boring.
Blofeld to henchmen: Get… no wait… sue Bond! Elon thinks he’s found his saboteur, and the feeble attempts to interfere with the mastermind’s plan for world domination were committed at the battery factory after all.
