All proceeds from both events will to go to support candidates who prefer to pretend Laura Bush didn’t call Trump’s child prison camp policy “immoral.”
To have and have not. Leading the Current this morning, yes, home prices are surging. But there are enough people with money who can afford to buy – the haves – so prices should stabilize rather than pop, bubble-style, say area real estate watchers. Meantime, new jobs are being created but they don’t pay much, so there will be lots of low-income renters – the have-nots. And they will have to pay more because high home prices push up the rent. Fortunately, all of this is nothing that a new football field can’t fix – oh wait, the stadium is in the story too, not fixing things.
What’s next, Clark County? Trump National Golf Course? So asks Patrick Donnelly, the Nevada director of the Center for Biological Diversity, in a Current guest op-ed on a federal land bill the Clark County Commission may ask Congress to pass. The commission is scheduled to vote on a resolution to that effect Tuesday.
Pom-pom economics. Also in the Current, in a commentary published over the weekend the editor unpacks the downside of Nevada’s economic development efforts, and how they continue to divert attention from more pressing priorities. Yes, sacrilege.

Cops and pimps. Dana Gentry did a heap of reporting in her three–part series in the Current on the snakepit that is the cozy/creepy relationship between Metro and pimps. And over the weekend Indy columnist John L. Smith wondered if the sheriff and the district attorney might do something about Southern Nevada’s “pimp scandal.”
TVMoJoe. One of the most accomplished journalists around these parts that you might not have heard of is Henderson’s/Hollywood’s Josef Adalian. He’s West Coast editor for Vulture, a NYMag.com publication that covers entertainment. And last week, Adalian’s “Inside the Binge Factory” piece on how Netflix is sort of the boss of TV was on the cover of New York magazine, which, as the other Joe (Biden) would say, is a BFD. Congrats, Joe!
