The buck stops…where? Leading the Current this morning, Nevada Republicans are dismayed about the U.S. separating migrant children from their parents and putting the children in prison camps, but not dismayed enough to acknowledge that their president and his administration started it, and could stop it any time.
Former U.S. Attorneys to Sessions: Stop it. “As former U.S. Attorneys, we know that none of these consequences — nor the policy itself — is required by law,” writes a bipartisan group of 75 former U.S. Attorneys (including two from Nevada) in a letter to Attorney General Jefferson B. Sessions about the family separations. “Rather, its implementation and its execution are taking place solely at your direction, and the unfolding tragedy falls squarely on your shoulders…It is time for you to end it.”
If it’s the last thing he does… Sheldon Adelson’s newspaper will not rest until somebody from Adelson’s long-time convention industry competitor, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority, is frog-marched. Which somebody might deserve, btw.
Potentially of much more consequence… In case you missed it, the R-J has also run a three-part series on a proposed – well, sort of proposed – start to some genuine rapid mass transit around here.
Forty-three (43) voters appear to have voted twice, not through any fault of their own but evidently due to some minor confusion among poll workers, so now there will be a redo of a primary election for a Clark County office that let’s face it you’ve never heard of. Reports that the offending poll workers would be separated from their families and placed in chain link cages could not be confirmed.
Coming to a ballot near you. …a measure to raise Nevada’s renewable energy requirements, probably. You should know your vote on this may or may not actually mean anything, depending on which billionaires win Nevada’s dumb but absurdly overfunded ballot fight over energy deregulation.
Blofeld to henchmen: Get Bond! Elon Musk thinks he sees some sabotage – no, not in Nevada (at least not yet).
