Daily Current: Dennis Hof is The Most Interesting Man in the World

By: - June 14, 2018 8:09 am

The Most Interesting Man in the World. Click, God of Media, has proclaimed that every news organization on planet earth must publish a story on the Trump of Pahrump (alas, the Current remains heretically noncommittal). Nevada Republicans, by contrast, are pretending to be ashamed and are shunning Dennis Hof. Adam Laxalt, Dean Heller, Wes Duncan and Brian Sandoval all say they want nothing to do with him. Of course if real Trump (inasmuch as there is such a being) tweets something nice about local knock-off Trump, Laxalt, Duncan and especially Heller can be expected to dutifully fall in line. As for Sandoval, the much more interesting question – even more interesting than The Most Interesting Man in the World – is whether the governor endorses Sisolak sooner rather than later.

Leading the Current: The worst mass shooting in U.S. history happened in Las Vegas, and immigrants were there, working. The Current’s Jeniffer Solis talked with some of them about securing visas, for which many of them are eligible under U.S. law.

While we’re on the subject… If you missed it, journalist Amanda Fortini, who teaches at UNLV, wrote a superb report in California Sunday last month on the aftermath of the Las Vegas shooting. It’s as much about Southern Nevada as it is about the shooting aftermath, and it’s a genuine must-read, maybe especially the part about R&R and LVCVA immediately going to battle stations to protect the Las Vegas brand.

The beached whale art is nice, but… In the venerable Reno News & Review, the no-less venerable Sheila Leslie describes how & why voters are sick of politicians ignoring things that don’t matter. (A much less venerable personage made a similar case on the Undercurrent blog Wednesday btw.)

Wow the Nevada primary election results were great! That’s the assessment of an online news/fan site dedicated to covering … the Raiders.

Don’t worry. Be happy. Las Vegas housing prices are the most overvalued in the nation, report says. Everything is fine, area real estate association guy responds. R-J

Good luck
