The Board of Education approved draft language Wednesday to bring schools closer to moving back start times in an effort to afford teens more rest, but the effort is not final, according to a spokesperson for the BOE.
The Board voted to send draft language of the proposed regulation to the Legislative Council Bureau (LCB), which will review the language.
“There are still steps this draft language would need to move through before final approval. Next, the draft language will be discussed at a public hearing. Finally, it would move to the Legislative Commission for review and possible approval before it becomes law,” says BOE spokesperson Elizabeth Callahan.
The Board also voted to delay the implementation of any changes until the 2025-2026 school year.
