Station Casinos is on the losing end of an effort to delay negotiations with the Culinary and Bartenders Unions.   The National Labor Relations Board rejected the company’s legal challenge to a union election held in November 2017.

The NLRB ruling says 78 percent of Green Valley Ranch Resort’s eligible employees voted in favor of unionization, adding “the Employer seemingly concedes that there are no ‘compelling reasons…for the Board to grant review with respect to certain arguments the Employer raised..”

Station Casinos is now legally required to negotiate in good faith.  The Culinary is also awaiting results of a legal challenge filed by Station Casinos after workers at the Palms voted in April to unionize.

“We urge Station Casinos to recognize their workers’ voices and votes at Green Valley Ranch and the Palms, and begin contract negotiations in good faith immediately,” said Geoconda Argüello-Kline, Secretary-Treasurer for Culinary 226 in a news release.

The Culinary, which has spent decades attempting to unionize company properties, pointed out in its news release that Station Casinos has a long history of agreeing to respect the secret-ballot process.

The company is the third-largest private employer in the state.
